song choice

so i'm trying to pick a few songs to dance to.  these are some of the ones i'm considering doing a fan dance to.  the second one is actually one of my favorite, but i'm just concerned that it may be a little too slow.  i think the last one may be a little too slow also.  the first one i just think it funny.  please let me know what you think, or if you have any other suggestions.  thanks!

lucky for her

all i have to say for tonight is that my cat is very lucky that she doesn't know the difference between good singing and bad singing.  my arena partner in Wow, not so lucky for him.  because he actually sings really, really well.  and i really, really don't.  unless you're drunk when you hear me, then i'm fucking amazing.  but the song "mad world" (also known as the donnie darko song) came on my playlist tonight.  and if you have ever heard this song before, you can't help but sing along.  and i was doing this while skyping with said arena partner, so yeah.  he had to sorta suffer through my singing, but at least he likes me enough to put up with it.  and the cat loves me no matter what since i feed her, so i'm good in that area.  now if you'll excuse me, i'm off to go sing in the shower and pretend that i'm awesome at it.

p.s. alex, i want to do karaoke.  and chance of that happeneing next time you're here?

my shower has a playlist

and by playlist i mean songs that i sing into my shower head while naked and getting clean.  and it's a pretty random playlist.  seriously, i was all over the place tonight.  start off with this:

amazing song, and i've been singing it all week for some reason.  my favorite part has to be the first time he sings "i will let you down, i will make you hurt."  and not for any emo reasons, it's just extremely powerful the way he sings it.  after this song, my mind jumped to:

another pretty powerful song that can catch you off guard if you aren't expecting it.  i first heard it when it was in shrek, and fell in love with it.  my high school ex also played it with his band, and they did a pretty awesome cover.  favorite part of this song would have to be "love is not a victory march, it's a cold and broken hallelujah."   this sorta is emo, but honestly that just makes a lot of sense sometimes.  and because my mind is totally random, this popped up next:

yeah i have no excuse for that.  it's just a fun song to do for shower karaoke, or any karaoke for that matter.  no favorite parts for that one.  moving on now.

i told you my mind was random.  favorite part of that one is the whole damn song because it's fucking amazing and i less than three the chili peppers.  and that's it for tonight.  i was done with my shower by this point, so the music died.  at least until tomorrow night.

continuing with the awesome theme

due to some scheduling/timing errors last weekend, i ended up going to see the california celts on saturday instead of friday.  this meant i had to go alone since no one else was free saturday afternoon.  but this almost worked out better since i could bring my camera and stay for the whole time without having to worry about someone else either not liking the music (doubtful since they're awesome) or getting bored watching me take like five hundred pictures (totally possible). picture wise this worked out way better as well since i had natural light the whole time (it was an outdoor show).  the show was a lot of fun, the music was great, and because i'm me i ended up with a lot of pictures.  after it was over and i was getting ready to leave, chris stopped me because he had noticed me taking pictures and asked me to send them a copy.  i was more than happy to oblige, so after i had everything upload i linked the album to their facebook page.  and this is where it gets awesome.  they have about twelve hundred followers on facebook, so that is a lot of potential exposure for me.  chris (singer/drummer/random other instrument player) and patti (the harpist) are now fans of my photography page.  patti shared my album on her own profile.  they used (and credited) some of my pics to announce some up coming shows.  and chris has one of my pictures as his profile picture on facebook.  so i'm pretty stoked about all that.  it's always a good thing when someone appreciates your art, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy and such.  click here to see the rest..

it's half way to st patty's day!

well technically that was last saturday, but whatever.  it's close enough.  and it's also a song title.  which is why i'm bringing it up now.  because i'm going to see california celts tonight!  so while i go make myself look sexy, enjoy a little preview of what i'll be watching.

vodka and brownies

that's all i really have to say tonight.  i figure if i'm going to have a downward spiral, i'm going to enjoy it with booze and chocolate.  i will post something more insightful when i don't have a 1/3 of a bottle of vodka in me.  until then, enjoy this new band i have discovered.  i heard this song  for the first time on the radio today and instantly fell in love with them.  and the video is actually pretty awesome.  i've been really liking the slightly twisted stuff lately (probably because i've been feeling slightly twisted myself), and this falls nicely into that category without being over the top creepy.  enjoy!  and go have your own vodka-and-brownies celebration.*

* my God i hope this post still makes sense when i read it again tomorrow

twinkle, twinkle, little star

so that's probably the most advanced thing i can play on my guitar right now.  considering i'm teaching myself how to play, i'd say that's not too shabby.  my biggest problem with learning new skills is that i am extremely impatient about it.  i really hate all the tedious little details.  i would love to just skip over all that and dive right into the cool stuff.  i want to be able to sit down, bust out the guitar, and start playing "californication."  at least i already know how to read music, so that helps.  but repeating the same 2 cords over and over and over gets old.  like really old.  too bad i'm not a prodigy, that would make things way easier, but i guess i'm a little old for that anyway.  le sigh.  it's also really hard to motivate myself to practice when i can only play like 3 songs.  so if any one know a really cool, really simple song, kindly pass it my way.  until then my neighbors are stuck listening to "o when the saints" and "michael row your boat ashore."  oh well.  at least i look good playing it.
