on to the next

so i finally got to have sex again this week, so yay for that.  like i've said before, i get kinda crazy when i'm not getting some on the regular.  i was supposed to wait a full freakin' month to let my piercing heal up all the way, but i pretty much just said "fuck you" to that and just waited the two weeks while i had to keep it clean.  but now that i'm getting laid again, my mind is slightly clearer so i can start trying to write more often again.  on to the next!

oh and i really do have a next, i wasn't totally making that up.  i finally have a date to get my pin up tattoo.  for anyone who is new or anyone with a bad memory, i'm getting a pirate pin up in the sailor jerry style, sitting on an anchor, on the back of my left calf.  went and talked to my guy about it today.  set a date for june 16.  should have some sketches to share by the end of next month.  super excited about it, and it's going to be right in the price range that i was expecting.  i would like to try to get one more tattoo done before the end of the year as well.  i've decided that i want to get a pair of swallows as a clavicle tattoo.  for those that aren't into anatomy, your clavicle is your collar bone.  plan on getting those in the old school style also, but i will probably draw those.  i can't draw people, but i can draw birds.  also wanting to soften the colors on them a bit.  normally, they're done in really bold primary colors.  i think i still want to use a nice royal blue as the top color, but will probably use a soft pink as the undertones to make it a bit more feminine.  i like the balance of old style tattoo meets cute girly tattoo.

as for the reason why i'm trying to get a total of three tattoos this year, well i want to be able to enjoy them for as long as i can before my skin gets all old and wrinkly.  the good thing is that all of my tattoos so far are very easy to cover with clothing if i don't feel like showing them off.  if i wear converse, pants, and a t-shirt, no one would know i had any work done unless i told them.  eventually i want a wrist tattoo and perhaps one behind the ear, but i want to be a little more established into a career before i do that.  but i figure four will totally hold me over for a while.  or not.  like my boyfriend said, he only intended on ever getting one (he has fourteen as of right now).  well, the five more piercings i plan on getting might help also.  just don't tell my mom, she doesn't want to know.

the mystery of the sphynx

so in a random thought i had the other day, i decided that i am now going to refer to my downstairs area as my shpynx.  not sphinx as in the winged lion with a woman's head in eqypt. but shpynx as in the breed of hairless cat.  think about that for a minute and just let that sink in.  once you can appreciate how witty and clever that is, move on to the rest of the post.

via
so today, i decided that the sphynx need some treasure in the form of a curved barbell.  and that curved barbell came via a vch piercing.  look it up if you need to.  just don't do it if you're at work or in front of your grandma.  that might make things a little awkward.  ok so everyone knows what i'm talking about now?  good.  and no, it really doesn't hurt that bad.  i went to see ed (like i always do) and i just adore him.  he makes me feel so comfortable and not creeped out at all that he's staring at my sphynix, contemplating the best way to stab it.  i had to go it alone since my boyfriend got stuck babysitting his nieces tonight.  i really need to bring a stress ball or something when i do that, because i usually like to squeeze someone's hand when i get pierced, and that doesn't work so well when one hand is holding you undies out of the way.  so since i know some people actually do want to know, here's how it went down:

so like i said, i had to go alone.  it was surprisingly busy for a wednesday night, so i had to wait about an hour.  not like i minded, the couch they have there is insanely comfortable.  like i could sleep on it every night and wake up feel great.  also, i didn't want to go back to my car because there were some crazy bums high on something in the parking lot and i didn't want to deal with them.  when it gets to my turn, ed actually remembers what i wanted to get pierced since i talked to him about it a month or two ago when i went in to buy some new monroe jewelry.  as he put it, he wore his "hood piercing shirt" that day.  so he's getting all set up and explaining to me what the process is going to be.  so i get all settled on the chair and he's doing his thing to prep the area.  he stops and tells me "not to be weird or anything, but thank you so much for taking care of things before you came in.  you have no idea how many people come in for this and haven't showered first."  i just laugh and tell him that i did laundry last night so i would have clean undies to wear, just for him.  so he gets the area all prepped, places the mark where he's going to pierce, and places a receiving tube under the skin.  which just felt weird, considering things don't ever go under there.  overall, everything is fine so far.  so we're getting ready to do the count, and he counts one, and then i hear "oh shit."

basically not something i want to hear with a needle near my shpynx.  so he tells me it's ok, he just realized that he wanted to changed the angle a little bit first to make for a better piercing and he felt bad since the needle was next to my skin when he had to do it.  so he adjust everything, does the real three count, and stabs me with a needle.  honestly, not near as bad as you would expect.  there is like five seconds of really sharp pain, and then nothing.  it literally feels like nothing happened at all less than a minute after getting it done.  even now as i'm sitting here, the only time i feel it is if i lean forward because it puts a little pressure on the area.  sitting up, it's like nothing at all.  and it looks amazing.  i'm glad he readjusted because the placing is just perfect.  totally straight, lined up where it should be, and the bottom bead of the barbell sits exactly where it should be.  only downside is that i can't have sex for a little while now.  but once i can, it will so make this worth it.

why the boys love me

so i was on WoW just a few minuets ago.   one of my friends came on, who happens to be a guy, and the following ensued:

me: poke

him: bg?

me: i'm sucking like hard core at pvp right now lol

me: i'm having problems focusing today

him: lol all good

him: we've all been there

me: i tried to take a shower to wake me up, but my shower failed me and ran out of hot water when i was only halfway done shaving my legs

him: O.O

him: omfg that would suck

me: yeah and i had shampoo in my hair

him: bet your nipples could cut glass

me: they can do that anyway if i have the right jewelry in

him: lmao!  true

me: i feel like this convo should be posted somewhere

him: XD

him: same

me: that's it, it's going on my blog

pretty sure this is why all the boys love me.  rather than get offended by shit that's not worth getting offended over in my opinion, i just go with it and make it funny.  oh and also because the jewelry line is a totally true statement.  just put some diamond cutting tips on my spikes and i'll be good to go.

for the non-WoW readers, bg= battle ground and pvp=player vs player

why i less than three ed

i'll admit it, i went to a black friday sale today.  at my tattoo shop.  because they were offering half off on all piercings and body jewelry.  my original intention was to just get some rings for my cartilage piercings, but as the day went on, i just got to the point where i was like fuck it i'm getting another piercing.  i mean the price was just too good to pass up.  so i get there and have all my paperwork filled out and ready to go before niko even makes it to the front of the shop to check me in.  i swear i should just photocopy that release form and carry it with me to save time.  ed's working on a piercing when i get there, so i get to just chill on their crazy comfortable couch for a while and think about which one i want to get done.  after talking to ed, it's decided that i'm going to pierce my daith.  and i mean the real daith, not what  a lot of people mistake it for.  which makes ed super happy because according to him, that's a pretty rare request and he only gets to do it like once every four years.  this also means i get to be an example for the intern.  so we go through the normal prep and pierce routine, no problems at all.  he asks if he even needs to go over after care with me and i just laugh.  and now here's the best part of the whole thing.  since i did make up for the zombie march, he tells me that he's not going to charge me for the piercing.  so all it cost me was the $7.00 that i tipped him.  which is another reason why i less than three ed.  not only is he fucking amazing at piercings, he's just an awesome guy in general.  and now i have the same number of piercings in both ears.  that is until i get my right targus done in a few months.  what can i say?  i just can't stay away from it.

so my ice pack now fits the curvature of my chest

work went much more smoothly than i was anticipating.  i did have to hang on to a giant schnauzer, but luckily he is extremely well behaved and sat perfectly still.  i'm really happy about that because i don't really want to explain to my boss why i can't be holding on to moving animals this week.  hopefully tomorrow goes just as well.  luckily, i wasn't too sore for the larger part of the day, but i have been having to use the ice pack a lot at night.  so much so that it has now melted and reformed to fit in place just right.  i guess that's sort of a good thing because it makes icing them a lot easier.  like right now, i'm able to hold the ice pack with one hand and type this with the other.  now i just need to stop catching them on things.  and with that in mind, i have composed a short list of things you should really try to avoid after getting this kind of piercing.

bowling
air hockey
mixing grain buckets
running/jogging
holding crazy animals
not taking pain killers
not using ice often enough
wearing push up and/or plunge line bras
horseback riding
going outside when it's really cold and/or windy
anything involving bouncing

and while i was smart enough to avoid about half of these things, some of them are on the list due to a personal experience.  learn from my mistakes here.  i'm sure i'm going to make some new ones also while i get used to it.  i'll be sure to update you on those so you can be better prepared if you ever decide to be a little crazy like me.  and yes, i still think it was totally worth it.

so maybe i am a little masochistic

everyone thinks i'm crazy.  they all said it was going to hurt, and couldn't believe that i actually wanted to do it.  to most people, including myself, it all came as a total surprise that last night even happened at all.  i had been toying with the idea for a few months now, going back and forth between a firm conviction to go though with it and a firm conviction to entirely avoid the whole situation.  i always thought it looked awesome, but just couldn't decided if the pain would be worth it.  last night that all changed.

for the past two weeks, i have been stressed out and depressed.  nothing i would do would shake those feelings.  i needed to find something to make me happy, and i needed to do it soon.  at work a tangent of a thought popped into my head while i played with my industrial.  at first i thought it was just a fleeting fantasy, as that happens often when i think about body modifications.  usually i get an idea, think over it for a few moments, and it slips quietly away.  but not this one.  as the day went one, it went from a whisper of a thought to a screaming, yelling idea that i couldn't ignore any longer.  and once something gets that firmly set in my brain, i'm going to make it happen, and usually that same day.  by the time i got off work, i was so elated about the idea that i could not even remember why i ever had any doubts about it before.

after a shower and some unwinding, i picked up a friend from work.  she agreed to go with me for moral support, to take pictures, and because of curiosity: she had never seen a piercing done before.  we drove over to pismo because i had wanted joe to be the one to do it.  upon arrival, michelle informed us that joe had just left for the night.  she offered me a $10 off coupon if i wanted to come back tomorrow.  but i knew i couldn't wait until then or i would loose my nerve.  i asked if the shops in slo still had their piercers there, and she told me to go see ed, he'd be there for another hour.  she would still give me the $10 to make up for the inconvenience, and even called ahead to let them know i was on the way.  so back into the car, and back to slo.

we get to the shop and ed is waiting for me.  i fill out the release for for the fourth time in the last ten months.  i've really been on a kick with this stuff lately.  he sets up the room while i'm checking off boxes that state no, i am not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and no, i do not have any bleeding conditions.  and then it's finally time.

he explains the whole process to me and goes over things like placement and angle.  it's not awkward at all to be standing in front of a total stranger topless because he's very professional and very chill about the whole thing.  after the marks are drawn and i'm happy with the placement, i settle myself onto the piercing chair and try not to think about it too much.  he puts a clamp on and tells me to do the breathing exercise.  one: breathe in.  two: hold it.  three: breathe out.  on three i close my eyes and squeeze down on my friend's hand while she takes pictures of the needle going through my left nipple.  he replaces the needle with the barbell and asks me how i'm doing.  so far, so good.  it hurt far less than i was expecting it to.  he asks if i need a break before round two and i say no.  i just want it done with.  repeat steps one, two and three on the right nipple.  and it's over.  i didn't cry, cuss, puke, or even move.  ed says that he wishes ass his clients were as easy to pierce as i was.

so i am now the proud owner of a pair of pierced nipples.  they look bad ass, and the small amount of pain was entirely worth how ecstatic it made me feel.  early happy birthday to me.

a first for everything

today at work we had a client come in who had concerns about giving medications to  her dog.  this particular dog is ...... difficult ....... to give pills to. (and that's putting it very nicely.  you really don't want to know the choice words we use to describe this dog.)  so the owner comes in to buy a pilling gun.  i go into like a five minute little spiel about how to use the pilling gun properly and some other suggestions, tips and tricks to try to make it easier to medicate their dog.  after all this, the owner takes the pilling gun from me, looks me dead in the eye and asks "does that thing go all the way through your ear?"  she was referring to my industrial piercing.  this was the first time i have ever had anyone be distracted by any of my body art.  without so much as pausing i look straight back at her and say "yes it does."  her response?  "oh."  followed by a short pause and "do you have piercings anywhere else?"  i then showed her my right ear.  "so no really weird ones like your tongue or anything?"  my answer: "not yet."  i wonder how much of my pilling speech she remembers.  i guess i'll know if i see her back tomorrow.  maybe i should show her my tattoo then.

thinking about the next one

so, it's been like 2 months since i got something pierced.  last time it was something simple, just a second cartilage piercing in my right ear.  didn't give me anywhere near the endorphin rush that industrial did.  so i'm thinking about what i want to do next.  most likely it will either be re-piercing my navel or getting a tongue ring.  if i were to have my choice, the tongue would come first, but seeing as how you need about a week off from talking, and the main part of my job is talking to clients, i'm not so sure how that will work.  the one thing that i do worry about is that i am mildly addicted to the rush you get from it.  i'm a little worried that after i get all the piercings that i wanted, i might end up with a few extras because of that.   i guess the best thing for me to do is to try and space them out longer than i have been.  ideally, i should wait until the next 3 day weekend, like president's day for something, and use a few vacation days at work at the same time.  that way i could get the tongue pierced and not have to talk to anyone.  so in theory, this gives me a few more months.  but if i happen to sound funny next time i'm on the phone, you can probably guess why.
