i need a white tiger

like, literally.  well ... sort of.  more specifically i need a plush white tiger that doesn't look adorably cute.  and why might i need this?  blizzcon costume.  why else?  did you not read my post from last friday?  any who,  the character i'm going as has the WoW equivalent of white tiger as her war mount.  which just means it's a white tiger with a fancy name, like frostsaber.  costume-wise, this means i want to get a big plush tiger, slap some wheels on it, and have it "following" me on a leash at the convention.  problem is, too many of the plus tigers at the stores have that overly cute googly eye look.  and a fierce war mount cannot have googly eyes.  i'm pretty sure you can't be fierce with googly eyes.  just ask tyra.  and the ones that don't have googly eyes are ginormous and cost  way too much money.  so if you or anyone you know has a decent sized, not overly cute, plush white tiger that you wouldn't mind donating to my cause so i can punch holes in it and attach some wheels, let me know.  i will less than three you forever!  because i want to look badass.  and the fail ninja just doesn't cut it.  that, and they wont allow live animals in the convention center.  which is really too bad.  because if they did, you can bet i would be trying to find some zoo who would let me borrow their tiger.

not what i wanted to see

yesterday was an unsuccessful second attempt to photograph the tide pools (they were closed again).  so since i have to pass the barn where the pony lives to get home from the tide pools, i figured that was a good time to stop in and give him an extra grain bucket.  when i walked by his pen, he was standing my his feeder so his body was blocked but i could see his head and his legs.  i noticed a fresh blood trail on his front leg leading up to a small nick on the front of his fetlock joint.  i thought meh, no big deal, i'll just  clean it off, put some spay on it and it will be fine.  so i go back to my trunk to get my halter, and once i get inside my horse's pen to catch him, i can see his whole body and i see this:

giant amounts on swelling are never a good thing.  i look under his belly and i can sorta see what looks like a scab hanging and some dried up discharge around it.  i put on some gloves and feel around and i can feel a nice squishy lump.  he's also really reacting when i touch around it, so i know it must be really sensitive.  since i don't really feel like being uber unsafe and climbing under my horse's belly to see it better, i get my camera and snap a few pics to see what's going on and i find this:

lovely, isn't it?  so now i'm a bit worried, because giant amounts of swelling and an open sore are a bit out of my comfort zone for treating by myself.  so i call the vet, and of course this happens after they've already closed.   so i page the doctor, and he gets out to the barn about an hour later.  he does a quick look over the horse and says it's a fly bite abscess.  there isn't much to do for a treatment wise, just put lots of fly control on and moderate exercise to help it drain out.  pretty much just need to let it run its course.  if it doesn't improve within two weeks, then i need to treat it with medications.  until then, my horse just has to have an ugly belly.  poor pony :(  at least i can bute him to make it hurt less.

why it's good i live alone...

if you have any history of reading my blog, i know your mind automatically went to some kinky place with that title.  so, you're welcome for that.  but now to disappoint you.  this post has nothing what so ever to do with sex and everything to do with singing.  pretty much, i've been watching a lot of movies with singing in them lately, namely repo! the genetic opera and tangled*.  pretty much can't be more opposite than those two, but whatever.  both have some really great songs.  and because i've watch the hell out of each of them, i know all the songs now.  and i sing along.  usually kinda loudly.  and while my voice doesn't suck, it is best used to entertain small children at campfires and drunk adults are karaoke.  luckily, the fail ninja doesn't give a damn about my singing, so i can sing to my heart's content.  but i'm pretty sure if i had a roommate, they might have a few objects.  especially if you listen to some of the songs from repo!, which can be a bit, well, weird.  but in a good way.

* i didn't realize it before, but most of the characters in tangled are actually modeled after the actors that voice them.  so kinda cool little side note there

why the phrase "i just bought my eyes" is not weird for me

so it's that time of year again.  now you might ask, what time is that?  it's blizzcon costume time!  which means lots of geeking out for me, but also lots of costume tips and updates for you.  so far i have my wig, which i got on sale for $5, and my ears which cost about $15 after shipping.  and yes, i did buy them this year and not make them.  part of that was because i had time to buy them this year.  also i spent about the same amount making them last year, so i figured i would save myself the hassle.   and today i bought my eyes.  well, sort of.  i bought white out contacts.  i'm a little worried because they are shipping from out of the country, but i got them at a good enough price where i won't be totally fucked over if i need to buy different ones.  i also picked out what kind of body paint i'm going to use.  thanks again to costume capers for being awesome.  i went in today to buy a $2 wig cap, and the lady gave me a whole demo on body paint types and applications even though she knew i wasn't buying it today.  so now i have something to look forward to next month.

now imagine me with purple skin and white eyes aww yeah

oh and i sorta have my dress picked out.  there are a few wedding dresses that i'm watching on ebay that would be pretty perfect for what i need.  basically i wouldn't have to do a lot of altering, just some embellishing.  part of me kinda feels bad, because i'm pretty sure i'm bidding against women who actually want to get married in these dresses and not turn them into a convention costume.  and then the other part of me is like fuck it, i want to win the damn costume contest.

preoccupied

not us, but i thought appropriate
so i know it's been forever and a day since i update this thing.  i've been more than a little preoccupied lately.  and this time for good reasons!  i finally met a guy who didn't turn into a douche.  in fact, he has turned out to be pretty damn awesome.  so because of this, i've been spending a lot of time with him.  and, like me, he doesn't like just sitting around doing nothing. so we've actually been out doing a lot.  lots of beach time, a few day trips to different places, hitting up downtown on the weekends, usually going to farmers, a few concerts, some camping, plus we've got some bigger trips planned for later dates (more on those some other time).  all this has left me with severely reduced computer time, and i've been using that to play WoW.  because you know, i kinda still pay for that and i want to get my monies worth out of it and all.  but i do miss blogging.  so i've decided on a compromise for myself.  i usually have at least one or two alone nights each week, so i'm going to use that time to pre-write  out my posts for the for the following days.  pretty much all i'll have to do is just click a button each day, and you all can be entertained by my fantastic sense or wit and humor on a much more regular bases.  cheers!

how to not win my heart

so i really have been have like zero luck finding a decent guy in this town.  this would be my most recent example.  last friday i went to in-n-out and the zoo with this guy.  before we had met up, we had been texting for a few days, and i had been starting to have reservations about the whole thing because he was coming off as potentially being clingy.  but i figured i would have given him the benefit of the doubt and continue with our plans.  kinda wish i hadn't.  i think i spent a grand total of about two hours (actually less, now i think about it) with this guy.  i left party because it was nine million degrees outside and it was way too hot to stay at the zoo any longer, and partly because i wasn't feeling into him enough to deal with the nine million degree heat.  he had asked me if i wanted to come over for a movie night with him, which i politely declined.  he also asked me if i wanted to go to karaoke with him the next day and meet his family.  i said i had plans.  so later that night i was at home, doing my pvp thing on WoW with my guild.  he kept texting me, and i didn't respond too quickly because that's hard to do when you are shooting magic arrows at an orc's face.  so he texted me more, asking me what i was doing.  i was finally at a stopping point so i told him what i was doing and i couldn't fight and text.  so instead of waiting for me to let him know if i was available to talk, he kept texting me like every hour to see if i was done yet.

so by this point i am far from wanting to meet up with this guy again.  so i send him a message saying that i didn't feel a romantic type connection and would not be interested in pursuing this past a friendship only level.  his response was "ok. i dont think we got much of a chance to see but you feel what you feel. i would love to still be your friend.  im not gonna lie though, your cute, sweet and really awesome so im definately bummed"*  so i figure i'm ok now and he's got the point.  apparently i was wrong.

last night i get a text from him asking "so am i just not your type?"  i responded by telling him that he came of as clingy in his texts and that wanting me to meet his family after just meeting him was just a bit too much.  i got the following texts in response to that: "oh i didnt mean to seem that way.  im not clingy at all.  i was just enjoying talking to you because your awesome."  "everyone i know meets my family because they are cool people.  i didnt want you to get creeped out by a kind gesture."  i didn't respond because quite frankly i didn't want to engage this conversation any further, so ten minutes later i get this: "im sorry if i freaked you out.  i know we have a lot in common and the same outlooks on things,  i guess i just got too excited..."  i still didn't respond, and so far i have not heard anything else from this guy, so hopefully that is the end of it.

so i have a few words of advice to this guy in case of the off chance that he reads this one day.  first off, tone it down like ten notches.  while eventually i would want someone to meet my family also, it would be after like at least a month of dating, not after the first date.  as alex put it, this guy would have probably been wanting to elope off to vegas after like two weeks.  also, if a girl says she can't talk right now, don't keep asking her if she's free yet.  it's annoying.  and lastly (for now), learn the proper uses of "your" and "you're."  while i suck at spelling (and i literally don't know what i would do with out spell check) i at least know basic things like that.  i think we went over that back in fourth grade. **

*just an fyi, i'm not changing any of his spelling, grammar, sentence structure, anything.  using direct quotes here
** i am also aware that due to the laws of the internet, since i have pointed out someone's spelling and/or grammatical errors, this post will have at least three of my own spelling and/or grammatical errors that i did not see when proof reading

not even my bras are safe

so we have established that my panties are not safe from the fail ninja.  as of tonight, neither are my bras. out of all the places in my apartment that she could have chosen to sleep at, she picked right on top of my bra.  she has already tried to steal the straps a few times, but apparently that wasn't enough for her.  she has now laid claim (quite literally) to the entire thing.  le sigh.  my poor undergarments.
